Sweating is a natural way to heal and enhance the health of the body. Far infrared rays penetrate the skin reaching deep into the subcutaneous tissue where it heats the body from the inside out, which can also lead to an increased heart rate, resulting in the same elevated heart rate you experience when exercising. The core temperature rises resulting in a deep, detoxifying sweat at a cellular level, while possibly burning up-to 600 calories a session. This thermal treatment helps to eliminate toxins, increases metabolism, reduces cellulite, and stimulates blood and oxygen flow.

 

Benefits of Infrared Sauna

Infrared wavelengths are very healing to the epidermis and dermis layers of the skin, stimulating collagen production, reducing wrinkles, improving the overall skin tone and muscle tone. Noticeable effects are reported on pain relief, weight control, skin stimulation, and stress reduction due to an increased blood circulation.

 

Infrared heat waves reach the core of the body directly without having to heat the intervening air inside the sauna so lower a temperature setting scan be used to achieve results in short sessions starting from 25 to 30 minutes. With this system, breathing is more comfortable and the atmosphere inside the sauna is more enjoyable than in conventional saunas. There are reports that up to 80% of sweat from infrared heat contains heavy metals and other toxic fluids in addition to extra water, this is an increase of detoxification over sweat in traditional saunas.

What to expect

Please arrive for your sauna session clean, hydrated and ready to sweat! The sauna will be preheated to an average temperature of 135-150 Fahrenheit, you may request a lower temperature when reserving your session. You will be shown into the private Sauna  Sanctuary and the restroom. Most people undress completely while in the sauna, you will be able to choose the chromotherapy light color that you would like or turn the light off for deeper relaxation. There will be spa music playing, but you may choose whatever music you prefer. Some people take their phone into the sauna with them, or play a podcast or other audio program from their phone just outside the sauna door. Please note, your iPhone may get too hot and need to be set outside the sauna after 30 minutes if you decide to take it inside.

 

The sanctuary will be reserved for 60 minutes, most people stay in the sauna 40-45 minutes. We encourage taking breaks for water and to cool off if you notice a significant increase in your heart rate.

 

You will have total privacy in the sauna sanctuary and will be supplied with plenty of water and towels, including a cold hand towel for cooling off after your session. You may request wipes to remove makeup and deodorant if you wish. Most people wear loose fitting clothes knowing that they will be hot and sweaty after their session.

 

Saunas are NOT appropriate for people with heart conditions, high blood pressure, low blood pressure or pacemakers.

 

Preparation

Please do not eat anything for at least an hour before, and avoid alcohol prior to your sauna session. You are more likely to feel uncomfortable sitting in a sauna with a full stomach. Choosing to take a hot shower or bath poor to the sauna session will further promote respiration.

 

Please do not wear fragrance or cologne while in the sauna.

 

It is essential to drink plenty of water, before, during and after a session. Doing so will replenish fluids lost during perspiration. Coconut water and lemon water are a great way to replenish electrolytes after a session.

 

Many find it beneficial to take a sauna at the first sign of cold or flu, as it may have an immune boosting effect and decrease the reproduction rate of viruses.
